What educators are saying

My students from Kindergarten to 5th grade loved these activities. I taught STEM as a specials/encore class and each week the students couldn't wait to see what we were doing next!
We have just begun using some of these STEMs and students are loving them. Thank you, and I look forward to the others.

    Teacher's Guide to Going Digital

    Description

Looking to use STEM Challenges and activities in your elementary classroom? These hands on simple STEAM activities are low prep and use common classroom materials. These STEM activities are both digital and printable! There are STEM challenges and activities for the entire year for you to use - 48 challenges! You will find just what you need for Back to School, Team Building, Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer STEM fun! This STEM Bundle includes STEM challenges and STEM activities for the entire year!

How I use these challenges in my classroom

I teach 360 students each week in grades K-4! When I began teaching multiple grade levels and the classes were only 40 minutes, my head was SPINNING! It was so hard to manage the materials, pack the lesson in, and actually give my students time to create! One class would be knocking on my door by the time I was wrapping up!

That’s why I created my SIMPLE STEM challenges. These are low-prep, elementary STEM activities that use common classroom materials. I provide suggested materials, but I do not list them on the students’ sheets. This way, you can customize all STEM challenges to fit your needs! Sometimes I will use recyclable materials, and other times I will use common classroom items.

My STEM activities always include a digital slideshow. Students can complete these digitally to save paper, or you display them on your interactive whiteboard.

Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.
