What educators are saying

The students in summer camp loved it. We used it as part of the activities for our theme week. Interactive!
I used these for a fun activity to do with kids at our Juneteenth Celebration over the weekend. They worked out perfectly and the children really enjoyed making them and playing the trivia together! I also added bonus information about the meaning in the design of the flag. I definitely recommend!

Description

Juneteenth Resource:

An easy Juneteenth Flag STEAM Project for Juneteenth. These Juneteenth Flag Cootie Catcher printables are an easy project to print and distribute in the classroom. There are two flag cootie catchers available – the first contains a set of quiz questions/ facts about Juneteenth. The second cootie catcher is blank so that students can practice writing and adding their own newly learnt facts for about Juneteenth and the Emancipation Proclamation.

This paper craft profits the opportunity to develop writing skills, learn about history and fine motor skills, whilst celebrating Juneteenth in the classroom or at home.

4 Page Printables include:

* Lesson plan overview

* How to fold a cootie catcher (generic instructions)

* 2 Printables - one with quiz questions/ one blank for own questions

NOTE: Some of the quiz/ facts wording is "compressed" to fit on the cootie catcher, I recommend using these in addition to normal Juneteenth discussions to provide more context. E.g. the "star" on the flag represents the Lone Star of Texas - the last place to hear about the Emancipation proclamation 2.5yrs after it was signed, but also the first place to celebrate Juneteenth. The answer given only says "Represents The Lone Star State, Texas, but also the freedom of every Black American in all 50 States"
