Here’s what’s included:
1. Spelling Lists: There are 17 weeks of spelling words provided. Each week focuses on 4 affixes/roots, with 5 words under each one, for a total of 20 words per week. Your class can focus on one list for 2 weeks for a deeper word study, or you can alternate a spelling week with a vocabulary study week.
2. Spelling Practice Activities:
•PowerPoints: A PowerPoint is included for each week. They are formatted so that each word has 2 slides. The first slide has the word, and the second slide has the definition. You can let your kids "turn and talk" before you reveal the definitions. Space is available on their word list to copy the definitions.
•Foldable and Flashcards: These are great for homework or for a Word Work station if you are implementing Daily 5 into your classroom.
•Word Zaps: Look at the preview for additional information. This allows for use of reference sources and a hands-on study of the words. Great for a Word Work station or homework.
•Choice Boards: Several options are included.
•Spelling Practice Sheets: Like Choice Boards, but without the choice. Students are required to follow the direction and do each section.
3. Spelling Tests and Answer Keys:
•Spelling tests and answer keys for each week are provided. These require the student to not only know how to spell the words, but to understand the affixes and how to apply them to words.
