    SPACE & PLANETS BUNDLE #1

    SCIENCE, ASTRONOMY, STEM

    GRADES: 5-9

EMERGENCY PLANS / SUB PLANS: YES!

SPACE AND PLANETS BUNDLE PACKAGE 1 CHECKLIST

Listed below are all items included with this Space and Planets Bundle Package #1. Over two weeks of materials to help your Space and Planets Unit. Perfect for Grades 5th-8th! Perfect for Sub & Emergency Plans! Great for simple review!

    #1 - “I HAVE…WHO HAS…” SPACE & PLANET CARD WITH WEBQUEST

This assignment is a set of 33 "I have...Who has" cards focusing on Space & Planets.

This is a simple whole class read aloud activity that covers a variety of topics with good information. Each student receives a card on a topic. The class then reads in the correct sequence the cards calling out what item they have and the information provided. This is then followed by leading a question toward what the next correct topic should be. Great to encourage active reading and listening with all students.

I Have Cards are a simple way to cover information in a short amount of time and to build toward deeper understanding.

WEBQUEST FOLLOW-UP INCLUDED: Often I use these cards as a precursor to individual webquests where students find more information on their card topic to then share with the class or in small groups.

#2 - PLANETS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM POWER POINT

This power point presentation will enhance any lesson focusing on some or all of the major planets.

51 slides cover: Planet Orbit, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Asteroid Belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Beyond...

Each planet has five slides of information covering: history, moons, rotation & revolution, characteristics, size comparison to Earth, and more... Each section of the power point also has links to various online videos (2-10 minute lengths) on the topics. If you like to have your students take notes, the power point and video are perfect!

    #3 - SPACE & PLANETS WORDSEARCH

This assignment is perfect for extra credit or homework for either science or language arts classes.

The front side is a wordsearch with 50 space and planet vocabulary terms. The back side is a sentence writing assignment where students must write using the provided terms from the wordsearch.

The paper is provided as an MS-Word document so you can modify as needed. The wordsearch is a static image that cannot be altered. An answer key is provided.

    #4 - PLANETS WEBQUEST (8 PLANETS)

This webquest is a great addition to any unit focusing on Space and Planets. The webquest can be completed at one website www.space-facts.com which also makes it easy to assign for homework.

In total this is a 50-question webquest with an even assortment of questions for all eight planets in the Milky Way Galaxy (sorry Pluto!). Questions focus on: rotation, orbit, temperature, spacecraft exploration, moons, and plenty more.

    #5 - SPACE & PLANETS VOCABULARY PUZZLE

This worksheet is perfect for a homework assignment, extra credit, or in-class work.

This assignment is a Space & Planets Vocabulary Criss-Cross Puzzle. Students are given 28 terms connecting to the topic. First they must correctly figure out where each term fits into the vocab grid based on word length. Second students must sort the terms correctly into four boxes based on what the term most closely connects to: planets, moons, human space technology, or deep space. *ANSWER KEY FOR BOTH SIDES IS PROVIDED*

My students love these worksheets and I often will use them as a precursor to a vocabulary game or as a guide before a test/quiz.

    #6 - SPACE TECHNOLOGY WEBQUEST

This is a computer lab webquest that can also be used as a great assignment to connect technology to space or to use as the beginning point for a research project.

Students are provided a list of 30 past-and-present examples of human-made space technology. They must use the Internet to research key points of interest including: primary goal of the technology, one important date connected to the topic, and additional facts. The packet has students choose 6 of the items to research. A Venn Diagram is also included so students can compare/contrast either two of their own choices or to partner-work with another student.

    # 7 - PLANET ATMOSPHERE CIRCLE GRAPH ASSIGNMENT

This assignment is designed for 8 1/2" x 14" paper.

This worksheet is excellent for science or math classes as a reinforcement or introduction to pie graphs (circle graphs). Blank graphs are set up and students must work with the provided atmosphere data to match the planet to the pie graph and then shade in the correct portions.

    #8 - PLANET CHART WEBQUEST

Students love this planet chart webquest since it's a visual break from the standard question and answer worksheets. It's perfect for a computer lab assignment or for homework/extra credit.

A chart with nine rows is provided. One piece of information has been filled in into each row giving students a hint on which planet fits that row. Students must use the Internet to determine the correct order that the planets fit into the chart as well as filling in missing pieces of information such as: number of moons, atmosphere gases, space probes that have studied the planet, planet diameter, etc...

The completed chart can then be used for classroom discussion, Venn Diagrams, focused writing, or as notes for a future quiz or project.
