SEL Curriculum Guide | Full Year | Read Alouds & Activities | 8 Bonus Freebies!
- Google Driveā¢ folder
Description
This is a year-long SEL scope and sequence tool to guide your instruction week by week. Each week includes a theme or SEL skill, linked activities and guiding questions for discussion, as well as culturally responsive read alouds (with linked videos) to support learning. 8 free bonus resources are included in this Google Drive, along with the actual scope and sequence document.
The focus topics include:
- Identity, Self-Management, and Social Awareness (Trimester 1)
- Differences, Community, and Social Justice (Trimester 2)
- Goal setting, Reflection, and Teamwork (Trimester 3)
This resource addresses key social emotional learning competencies as identified by CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning). It also integrates social justice learning and cultural awareness by including read alouds for Lunar New Year, Black History Month, and more.
Please view the product preview to see what the scope and sequence document will look like! There are some minor formatting errors in the preview that are not present in the actual Google Doc, this is due to creating the PDF.
This also includes exclusive free access to some of my paid resources (value of $14!) including:
- Boho SEL Alphabet Posters
- Calm Nature SEL Alphabet Posters
- Bold Brights SEL Alphabet Posters
- Student self-reflection sheet
- Mood Meter Feelings Sort activity
- Calm corner choice board
Bonus resources include:
- A document with links to mindfulness videos with guided meditations, sensory videos, kids yoga, and more
- Conflict resolution tool to support students in preparing I-Statements
I originally created this for 3rd grade, but this resource is 100% editable to meet the needs of your specific classroom. Change the months, weeks, or add your own activities and videos to better align with your school/district SEL instruction. I believe this resource is also appropriate for kindergarten through 5th grade and can be adapted to be more or less rigorous depending on age.
Most of the activities linked in the document are free from Teachers Pay Teachers. Almost all of the read alouds that are listed have a linked video to Youtube so your class can still enjoy, even if the book is not in your library.
