FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS
Mighty Math is a set of weekly formative assessments that can be used to evaluate progress towards the second grade math Common Core State Standards. There are 36 two-sided assessments, with 13 problems on each assessment. All ten of the second grade Math CCSS are assessed every week.

THIS RESOURCE ALSO INCLUDES:
---Answer Keys
---Three Options for Recording Student Data: Quarters
---Three Options for Recording Student Data: Trimesters ((exclusive!)
--- Binder Cover & Spine ((exclusive!)

HOW I USE THE FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS:
I use Mighty Math as formative assessments to drive my instruction and reteach concepts as necessary. Every week, I have a shortened math period (50 minutes) due to my specials schedule. This is my Mighty Math Day. First, students complete their Mighty Math assessment. When students finish, they bring their page to me to spot check. I’ll glance it over and make sure they didn’t miss anything. I also make an informal tally chart of problems that I notice many kids struggled with. Then, students work independently on unfinished Math Journal pages from previous days or Compass Learning Odyssey (differentiated math website). When most students are finished, I will pull groups of students who struggled with specific skills on the previous week’s Mighty Math for reteaching and practice. I will also conduct whole-group reteaching on those problems that were difficult from the current week.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS
Included are four summative assessments (one for each quarter) evaluate progress towards ALL of the Second Grade CCSS. Each assessment includes an "I Can" statement in kid-friendly language, so your students know the expectation for the assessment. Click HERE for a closer look. If you grade on trimesters, I recommend you use assessments 1, 3, and 4.

HOW I USE THE SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS:
About a week before the end of the grading period, I take 2-3 days for my students to complete summative assessments on all the CCSS. I use these in conjunction with the formative assessments to help to determine a final grade to report out to students' families.

NOTE FOR PRINTING: The measurement assessments were created with great attention to accuracy. To keep the measurements exact, it is recommended to print “as is.” If you choose the “fit to page” option, everything will be a little bit smaller.

This is a zipped (compressed) file, so you will need to extract the files from the folder in order to access each product. Please download the preview to get a closer look!
