What educators are saying

I used this resource to teach book care. The scenarios provided for great conversations with my students about book care.
This is a great resource for teaching care of all devices. The scenarios were great and engaging for the students.

Description

Do your students take good care of their library books and other resources? We teach book care, of course, but what about teaching them to care for our expensive electronic devices, video equipment, robots, makerspace materials, too?

This SCOOT game will help your 3rd and 4th graders think through the dos and don'ts of caring for a wide variety of library resources while getting them up out of their seats and moving around the LMC with purpose!

(PLUS... by 3rd-4th grade, your students have heard that book care lesson a time or two! They may be ready for an engaging, new spin on things! If you've never played SCOOT with your classes...it's fun! Be sure to see my preview for more details! )

This resource includes:

- 1 introduction slide or card (editable)

- 12 SCOOT story cards to print (8X8" and in full-color)

- team sorting cards (NEW -- added in 2022)

- directions

- a recording sheet

- and an answer key

(Note: Caution your students to read the recording sheet questions carefully... many of them are extension questions that differ from the questions on the scoot story cards.)

If you choose, you can project the SCOOT cards as a PowerPoint presentation for a lively whole group discussion instead. Either way, you'll help your students think about how to treat ALL of your expensive resources.
