This resource is a complete, no-prep PowerPoint lesson on how to correctly join clauses and avoid run-on sentences and has lots of follow-up practice to really make the concept stick!

- An editable PowerPoint presentation that takes the students through a step-by-step simple explanation of what run-on sentences are and how to correct them. Students are given a brief explanation of independent and dependent clauses (which is needed to help understand what run-on sentences are) and are presented with five methods for rewriting sentences to avoid comma splices and fused sentences. At the end of the presentation, there are several practice activities to do as a class. Possible answers are given in the teacher's notes section of the PowerPoint.
