Math Project Based Learning, Math Enrichment & Challenge

Looking for an engaging, differentiated, and challenging project based learning task to enrich your students? This is a perfect math challenge for students who need a challenge or enrichment, and they'll love getting to plan for and run their own ice cream shop!

Students will love getting to work within a budget to purchase ingredients for their ice cream shop. You'll love the enriched math practice they get along the way! Students will practice addition, time, money, and early multiplication skills while learning to work within a budget. They'll finish the project by designing ie cream menus and taking customers' orders!

This pack would be great for enriching second graders, perfect for third graders, and even a great review for upper grades! This is perfect for an end of the year cumulative or spiral math project!

Answer Key

Engaging Letter: Get students excited about this project by putting the letter in an envelope and ripping it open along with students!

Ingredient Menu: This shopping menu displays the prices for ingredients, toppings, supplies and specialties.

Planning Sheets: Students will calculate the total they've spent and adjust their purchases to fit within a budget. They need to follow certain guidelines.

•Daily Schedule: Students will be given responsibilities they need to complete throughout the day and will be asked to plan a daily schedule.

Taking Orders: Students will display their menu and take 4 classmates' orders and find their totals.

Menu Math: Students will be given extra practice by completing some basic multiplication problems as well as word problems that have to do with time and money.

Certificate: An optional inclusion for the end of the packet that congratulates students on a job well-done for running their ice cream shop successfully!
