Here's the Low Down on Rooted in Reading...

Rooted in Reading is a curriculum that was created to enhance the Language Arts instruction in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classrooms... and now KINDERGARTEN! Teachers read purposefully-selected picture books to their students each week.  Students are actively engaged in listening to and discussing each text throughout the read-aloud.  Before, during, and after the read-aloud, teachers guide book conversations through thought provoking discussion questions.  

The book list in this download includes the picture books that we will focus on for the entire year of Rooted in Reading KINDERGARTEN. Rooted in Reading is a curriculum that is designed around the READ-ALOUD, therefore you only need ONE copy of each book.

Please Note: The levels of the books vary. You will notice that the texts are BEYOND the instructional level of kinder students. This allows students to experience rich, meaningful texts while deepening their comprehension.

Please note: We provide resources/printables for foundational skills. However, we do not claim that this is a complete phonics program. Rooted in Reading was built to address the comprehension, vocabulary, and language standards. Many schools and districts have very specific plans for foundational skills/phonics. Our goal is to simply provide extra materials for teachers to use during their phonics instruction.
