    Description

Now 120 slides! Available in Google Slides or PowerPoint! Updated, revised, expanded: Over DOUBLE the size of the previous version. Romeo and Juliet Activity Bundle features an activity tied to each segment of the play, including the prologue. These activities are engaging, fun, rigorous, and varied. There are 120 slides worth of content, and the activities may serve as the backbone of an entire unit or a fantastic addition to one already being used.

Prologue- Students will learn background information on the play, as well as work on a paraphrase of the play’s prologue. Questions, videos, and an easy format for students to follow are included. This is a paperless activity that may take several days.

Act I- Conclude Act I by having the students paraphrase several key parts of the play in their own words. Students may work in pairs or individually.

Act II- Students will learn terms for the stage and literature, and then critically think about how those terms shape the famous balcony scene. This activity includes questions, videos, and examples. It will allow the students to analyze and evaluate the balcony scene in a deeper, more insightful way.

Act III- Shakespeare on your own. Students will (largely) read act III on their own. Guiding questions to help with comprehension are given throughout the act and excerpts are included next to questions to help student comprehension. The questions will also allow the class to read the act in lockstep, thus allowing the teacher to add commentary and advice when needed. This is an excellent tool for pushing students to attempt Shakespeare on their own.

Act IV- A poster project focusing on both the friar’s plan to help Romeo and Juliet, as well as the morbid thoughts Juliet has prior to taking the friar’s potion. This is a fun project that continues to develop the students’ critical thinking and interpretation skills.

Act V- A culminating project separated into a writing assignment and an artistic assignment. Students are given a variety of topics and assignment choices to empower them and allow them creative freedom. This is a perfect way to finish your Romeo and Juliet unit in a fun, creative, and rigorous fashion.
