Description

Common Core, Smarter Balanced

This "Romeo and Juliet" test is a Common-Core aligned, Smarter-Balanced type of assessment. It contains an assessment, or test, for each of the five acts from Shakespeare’s "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet."

Click the preview button for free and take a larger look at this assessment.

Each act’s assessment, or test, is worth about the equal percentage of how long each act is in the play. In the play, Acts One and Three are the longest, each about 25 percent of the play. Act Two is about 20 percent of the play, and Acts Four and Five are each about 15 percent of the play.

Assessments for All Five Acts

Each assessment is worth the equivalent: Acts One and Three are each worth 70 points, Act Two is worth 60 points, and Acts Four and Five are each worth 50 points.

Questions Divided into Selected Response, Constructive Response, and Performance Task

Each assessment is set up in a Smarter-Balanced style containing Selected Response questions. At the end of each assessment, there are Constructed Response questions. At the end of Act Five, there is a Performance Task.

Each assessment is organized as follows:

Act - SR Questions - CR Questions - Performance Task

Act 1 - 30 - 3 - 0

Act 2 - 25 - 3 - 0

Act 3 - 30 - 4 - 0

Act 4 - 20 - 3 - 0

Act 5 - 20 - 1 - 1

Questions: HOTS and Close Reading

In each assessment, the multiple-choice questions that are part of the Selected Response are mixed between in-text and beyond-text questions. Short-answer questions that are part of the Constructed Response are also mixed. A few questions are based on lower-order-thinking skills, but the majority of the questions require higher-order-thinking skills. Many of the questions require close-reading skills, as well.

Five Assessments, Five Class Periods

Each test is designed to be given after completing each act, and each test is designed to be given in one class period (50 to 55 minutes).

Use in Word or in PDF (Answer Keys & Rubrics Included)

All assessments come in Word, which allows you to modify them if you desire, and in PDF. Each assessment comes with a long answer key that is the complete assessment with the answers in bold, as well as a short answer key that gives the answer to each question. All possible answers for the constructed response questions are given in both types of answer keys, and they include rubrics for help scoring the written portions.

All of the tests are 7 pages, and all answer keys are 7 pages, except Act 2 is 8 pages. Therefore, there are 71 pages in Word and 71 pages in PDF, combining for 142 pages.

If you are looking for a well-written, challenging assessment, this product will work for you.

Individual Acts Tests and All Five Acts Tests are Sold Separately in My Store

I'm so confident that if you saw the Act One test, you would want the rest. Therefore, I discounted Act One's price for you to make it easier for you to check it out. If you like it, then you can come back to my store and get the remaining four acts.

Acts Two, Three, Four, and Five are all the same price.

But if you want to save money, I have bundled all of the tests for all five acts into one product. It is cheaper to buy the bundle pack of all five acts at once instead of buying them separately.
