What educators are saying

Great to use throughout a few days of class! This was helpful for the students to do a little research in different ways to answer the questions
My students love changing up our normal work time with this WebQuest. It was engaging and I was able to break the kids up in the groups to work on it together. Definitely a good resource if you're teaching about rocks and minerals.

Description

This webquest makes learning about the rock cycle and types of rocks easy and engaging.

Students will learn about:

  • What rocks are
  • The types of rocks and their characteristics
  • Igneous rocks
  • Sedimentary rocks
  • Metamorphic rocks
  • The rock cycle and how rocks change
  • The difference between rocks and minerals

This resource works great as an introduction to the rock cycle and the types of rocks, as a sub-plan, or as a reinforcement activity. Students will access subject matter and student appropriate digital resources, including videos and interactive activities, and complete seven worksheets with questions. This webquest helps organize what students learn from the digital resources and ensures they maximize the educational value of them.

Both color and black and white printable versions are provided. You can use all seven pages or just a few depending on the time available and teaching need. An answer key is provided.

Links are shortened and easy for students to type into the address bar of their browser. Please note that this resource is provided in a static PDF format and is designed to be printed as a packet to allow for easy written student responses. If preferred, a digital Easel version is also provided.
