What educators are saying

Great resource to assess plot mountain! The kids loved doing this in small groups! Much better than a traditional, paper/pencil assessment.
Great resource, my students enjoyed building the plot pyramid, I used posterboard so that they could spread the elements out and they enjoyed making them.

Description

Rikki Tikki Tavi Plot Diagram. A hands-on activity for the story Rikki Tikki Tavi. After learning that the plot is the sequence of events, and having been introduced to a plot diagram with the story elements exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution, have your students work in small groups or partners to cut and paste this list of 12 events from the story onto the plot diagram and label what part of the story they belong to. Blank plot diagram included (as an example). Students create their own on a large piece of colored construction paper using the blank diagram as a guide. Includes student directions on a printable handout, or you can choose a slide to project on your whiteboard. Also has a plot diagram for projection and one for printing out. Print and Digital Resource: Includes an Easel Activity ready for learning with digital tools. Assign it in Google Classroom. Select which pages to use and add your own directions or notes. Helpful for remote teaching.
Students can also write the numbers of the events from their handout on the printed blank plot diagram sheet. Access Easel Activities on the product page or in My Purchases after purchase. Total of 26 pages including the digital pages.

You can also use the larger event cards (included) and challenge your students to do a human plot line.

1. Print out the 12 separate plot event cards. Laminate for durability.

2. Have some students hold up the cards and put themselves in the correct order in a kinesthetic activity.

3. Allow the rest of the class to help decide which is the correct sequence of events.

They will have to think critically to put the events in the correct order. I liked to do this before my students went to small groups, so that everyone could have a good understanding of the sequence of events before doing it on their own.

The story is not included...but is available free online. I have included links to the story and the video.

Please see full preview.
