Description
Teaching Rights and Responsibilities to primary age students is a necessity. These SmartBoard slides align with the Social Studies Core Content and help students learn/ review the importance of rules, laws, and citizenship in all areas of life. The lessons are designed to be student centered so students are able to interact and discuss all topics in partnerships or small groups. There are a total of 8 days of lessons and each lesson should last approximately 30 minutes. All lessons include an outcome, whole group discussion, student activity, and exit slip. Here are the daily outcomes for each lesson:
Day 1: I can identify and explain the purpose of rules.
Day 2: I can identify and describe the purpose of rules within my school. (this lesson will need to be changed some to reflect your particular school rules.)
Day 3: I can identify and describe the purpose of rules within my clubs and teams.
Day 4: I can compare rules with laws.
Day 5: I can identify and give examples of good citizenship.
Day 6: I can identify and give examples of good citizenship at home.
Day 7: I can identify and give examples of good citizenship at school.
Day 8: I can identify and give examples of good citizenship in the community.
