Right Triangles - Geometry Trigonometry (Sine - Cosine - Tangent) Task Cards

In this set of 32 task cards and 32 matching annotated answer cards you will find cards meant to review/reinforce the ideas of Trigonometry including setting up the basic ratios, solving for missing sides or angles based on a given diagram and solving story problems. You will also find a student answer sheet!

The cards are written to cover a variety of figures/topics:

****Cards 1 – 4 are introductory cards meant to test basic knowledge.

****Cards 5 – 12 feature diagrams asking students to give the side ratios for sine, cosine and tangent.

****Cards 13 – 24 give the students a triangle diagram with either two sides asking for an angle or a side and an angle asking for another side. The problems are solved by setting up and solving the Trigonometric Ratios.

****Cards 25 – 32 give students story problem situations where they need to draw a diagram and then set-up and solve the resulting Trigonometry problem

****The cards are also mixed in difficulty with some cards featuring whole numbers, while others have decimals or square roots.

Teaching Suggestions:
There are multiple ways to use these task cards. A few of them are:

****Pair students with a partner and have them pass the cards from pair to pair every 2 minutes.

****Separate the cards by concepts/difficulty and have students work in small groups depending on their abilities.

****Use the cards as part of a larger station activity.

I highly recommend printing multiple sets of task cards on card stock, laminating them and cutting them out to store in zip lock bags so that you have them for the next year/class. This ensures that you are not constantly needing to run a new set or giving up class time having the students cut them out!
