Description

Get it RIGHT with this unit on right triangles and trigonometry! This gives you all the necessary tools you will need.

This is a unit bundle that currently contains presentation notes, student follow-along notes handouts, glossary, glossary cards, 6 practice worksheets, 6 section quizzes, a study guide, and a 30-question multiple-choice unit test. Other items will be added over time, and the price will be modified as necessary during this process.

I am and have been a high school Geometry teacher for 20+ years, and all of the content has been used in my classroom.

The notes introduce each concept along with a few examples. They are in-depth enough to cover a topic well, and, at the same time, are brief enough to allow you to add related topics/examples of your choice without being overwhelming or stifling your own creativity/flexibility.

The topics included are:

1) Pythagorean Theorem - including Pythagorean theorem, Pythagorean inequalities, and classifying triangles

2) Special Right Triangles - including 45-45-90 and 30-60-90

3) Trigonometric Ratios - including sine, cosine, tangent, solving for a side, solving for an angle, and inverse trig functions

4) Angles of Elevation & Depression - including angles of elevation, angles of depression, sketching diagrams, and application problems

5) Law of Sines & Law of Cosines

6) Vocabulary - 15 terms/theorems/postulates

The preview contains a sampling of the notes and assessments.

Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
Explain and use the relationship between the sine and cosine of complementary angles.
Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
Prove the Laws of Sines and Cosines and use them to solve problems.
Understand and apply the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines to find unknown measurements in right and non-right triangles (e.g., surveying problems, resultant forces).
