Description

Included in this .pdf

*Printable worksheet to create a “musical sandwich” – worksheet is 2 pages.

*Options for composing in meters of 2, 3, and 4

I use this activity after my 2nd graders have reviewed meter, quarter and eighth notes. Here are the steps I give them:

Step 1: write your name on your “plate”. Cut it out and glue it to your paper plate (I pass out actual paper plates to make the creation a little more substantial – my kids LOVE this!)

Step 2: Choose 4 ”ingredients” from page 2. Color them and cut them out. Glue them between the slices of bread on your plate.

Step 3: Now copy the rhythm you have created onto the bottom of the plate.

Step 4: Share your rhythm with the class – I have students clap it with a partner, perform it for the group, or

trade plates with a friend and clap their composition.
