Description
The purpose of these twelve speaking El Restaurante conversation role-play situation cards is to allow students to practice different exchanges or transactions in small chunks to imitate what a real customer could face when ordering food at a restaurant in Spanish. Each situation starts at a different stage when visiting a restaurant (checking the menu, ordering, asking for ingredients, requesting suggestions, ordering dessert, requesting the check, etc.) Thus the task cards are a way to scaffold learning particular competencies in small chunks. This exercise is a crucial step to practice specific vocabulary or skills before trying to complete an entire situation in the target language.
To use the task cards, print them, laminate them, and place them in gallery style around the room. Then, divide the class into pairs. Assign each pair a starting point or a starting task card. Then, students will rotate every 8 minutes to the next task ( clockwise rotation.)
Provide 8 minutes for each task card so students can practice both roles.
For more scaffolding, please provide the key vocabulary on the back of the task cards.
