Description

Are you looking for a fun and immersive way for students to show off their skills? This real-world experience will allow students to show their mastery of various standards, or continue to practice standards they are learning, in math and language arts. This product is designed to last one week, although it can be used for longer or shorter depending on your schedule. You could even decide to do one task per day, or one task every week. I have included a version with tabs and without so that you can use it however works best for you.

I didn't include a cover for the packet intentionally, so you could make a unique title related to your class. For example, we did "Cafe Second Grade", but you could have students come up with a restaurant name that incorporates your room number or teacher's name. The content is geared toward 2nd grade, but this could also be used with small groups in 3rd grade who need some extra practice or for 1st grade Enrichment students.

In addition, there is a “Choice Menu” of Enrichment activities included on the first page. If you’d like to do different activities, simply use the one provided as an example and tweak it to fit your own curriculum or language. This is provided for early finishers so that you don’t hear “I’m done, now what?” all week long!

This Restaurant Week Project can be used to:

★Allow students to show what they know in Math and Language Arts by applying their knowledge to real-world scenarios

★Give students the tools practice skills in a practical way

★Build classroom community through engaging and cooperative learning activities

When I used this, I decorated the classroom to look like a restaurant and we worked on it all day every day for one week. On Friday of that week, we invited parents and family members to come in and my students gave them a menu, served them salad, pizza, and breadsticks, and finally had to total up the cost of their family’s meal and hand them a bill. They had so much fun and they were very excited to show off all of their hard work from the week!
