Description

I created these calendar markers to supplement our math program and number corner. I noticed the students were not being taught patterning in the curriculum, however there were lots of questions on the state test asking "What comes next?".

If you print these, laminate them, and cut them on the lines, they fit perfectly into a blue calander pocket chart.

At the beginning of the month I taught what a repeating pattern is, and simple ways to figure out "What Comes Next". I start with all the calendar markers turned over so the white side is showing. Each day we turn over a new card and see if we can figure out all the possible options for what comes next. We rule out options that are impossible, and unlikely, and try to use clues for options that are likely are certain. (All those math vocabulary words are super important to use in your math conversations also!!)

This particular repeating pattern is: half, fourth, half, fourth etc.
