Description
This UBD plan outlines an eight week year 8 history unit on the Renaissance in Italy. The period sits at the culmination of the broader year 8 depth study that links the ancient world to the modern c.650 AD (CE) – 1750. Not only is the Italian Renaissance a highly engaging area of study, it also offers us important lessons on the way we can approach the world today.
The content largely focuses on the way of life in Renaissance Italy; how society was structured, the ways that individuals and groups interacted, and the motivations and ideas of these people.
Throughout the teaching and learning strategies of the unit there is a strong focus on visuals, and drawing on the astonishing level of artistic and architectural production that occurred during the Renaissance.
