Description

This product contains 6 non-editable regions of Canada themed writing prompts with both visuals and text for prompting. The download includes a PDF format, Powerpoint format, and a link to a Google Slides file *with room for student responses*.

Easily adaptable for grades 4 through 8, and a great way to practice writing for PATs (Alberta Provincial Achievement Tests). Aligned well for Alberta Grade 5 Social Studies (current 2022 curriculum on the Regions of Canada).

The writing prompts are best suited for students who have some background knowledge in the physical regions of Canada (for example, grade 5 students in Alberta who have or are currently studying the regions of Canada). There is one prompt per region (Atlantic, Great Lakes, Canadian Shield, Arctic, Interior Plains, and Cordillera).

Note: The google slides version can be found by opening the PDF and clicking the link on the first page. You will need a google account to access.

Ideas for use:

  • Display on board and have class discussion to brainstorm writing
  • Display on board and have students respond independently
  • Print and have students glue into notebooks to respond
  • Post to Google Classroom or other online forum and have students respond digitally
