Description
Are you looking for fun, interactive lessons to teach your students about Reference Sources? These detective themed SMARTboard activities involve searching for clues to find the correct resource to use. The sources covered include dictionary, atlas, encyclopedia, glossary, almanac and thesaurus. The skills covered include guide words, multiple meaning words and synonyms. All pages are self-checking and can be used whole group, small group or in a center. Here’s what’s included:
*Just the Facts – students read descriptions to determine the resource
*Detective Match – match description with resource
*Follow the Clues – read the scenario and find the clues to determine the resource to use
*Guide Words – decide which detective words belong on the page and sort the words onto the correct guide word page
*Multiple Meaning Words – read the definitions and sentence to determine the correct meaning of the word
*Synonym Concentration game
*Printables – a cut/paste reference sources sort and guide words pages for extra practice are included
You must have Smart Notebook software to open this file. This activity is correlated to Virginia English SOL and Common Core Standards.
