Recycled Magazine Collage Art Lesson Inspired by Derek Gores

This collage art lesson will keep your upper elementary, middle school or high school art students engaged and excited with the results. Students will learn some fun facts and be engaged in critiquing the artwork created by artist Derek Gores, while creating a mixed media collage of an object of their choice that has a strong composition and sense of unity. The PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides include art vocabulary (contour line, unity, contrast, composition and collage), lesson objectives, standards, step by step directions, materials needed, reflection questions, rubric and a YouTube video art tutorial. This is a perfect lesson to use recycled/ repurposed materials for Earth Day or anytime of the year.
