What educators are saying

I highly recommend using this project with any Psych class or a science class in a brain and nervous system unit
Our small community has been ravaged by the fentanyl crisis, so this was an easy project to get buy-in from students on as they see drug issues all over our community. Was a good project to raise student knowledge on various issues surrounding this plague

Description

In this project students will select, from a provided list, a recreational drug

to investigate. Students are then given a detailed list of information to find on their drug, such as:

  • early uses of the drug
  • its effects on the body
  • legal issues
  • usage in society
  • addiction treatments

Students are asked to present their findings using words and diagrams in either a poster or digital format. An easy to use teacher marking scale/rubric is provided.

Students will work independently and in my experience the project takes 2 or 3 class periods to complete. This is an excellent, easy to use project resource for classroom teachers. Also, the simplicity with which it is worded and presented also makes it an ideal resource for distance learning situations and for substitute teachers who may not have a strong science background.
