Description
Looking to do more learning centers in your music classroom, to help foster a student-centered environment? Wanting materials to improve your students' recorder playing? This bundled set has everything you need to get started with recorder centers! The centers were designed to be very low prep, to help save time! Save almost $15 by buying this as a bundle instead of as individual sets!
The set is now complete, and includes the following:
Recorder Centers Set {D'C'BAG}
Recorder Centers Set {D'C'BAGF#ED}
Each set includes the following:
*Composition Center: Students work with their group to complete a 4-measure composition, arranging measures in whichever order they want. Then, they play their composition!
*Flashcard Center: Students work with their group to play recorder flashcards with stick and/or staff notation. Directions are included so that students could also match the stick notation pattern to the staff notation pattern, as well as play "guess the flashcard."
*Flip-Flap Book Center: Students get a "flip-flap" book and patterns sheet, and "write" each pattern by lifting the flap or folding it down, then play the pattern. See the preview for an example of the flip-flap book.
*Game Center: Students get an iPad or go to the computer, and play an interactive game. Students could use iBooks or Adobe Acrobat on an iPad, or simply open on a computer.
*Performance piece center: Students play an original composition. Directions are included to have students sight-read sequentially, first speaking the rhythm, then speaking the letter names in rhythm, then speaking the letter names and fingering, then playing, then playing with accompaniment. Each mp4 is embedded in each Powerpoint, and is also included separately in case you want to use it without the Powerpoint (like in a program.) For an example of one of my recorder compositions, check out this freebie.
*Worksheet Center: Four worksheets are included. Two worksheets are bingo dabber worksheets, in which students would dab the correct answer (so you would have to purchase bingo dabbers separately.) One worksheet requires students to cut and paste measures in the correct order, and one worksheet requires only a pencil.
*Suggestions for use, including different ways to set up the centers and pull students to listen to belt songs and/or for intervention
*Directions for the centers, geared toward the teacher
*Directions for the centers, geared toward students
*Centers Signs: These can be posted around the room, so centers can easily be found. Each set will include a different design for the signs, so you can choose whichever one you want, and/or change them throughout the year!
*Recorder Assessment: This can be used by the teacher, to pull students out and listen for belts, and/or for intervention
Two of the six centers in each set are technology-based, but if you have one computer and one iPad, you can use both! Many of the materials, such as the flashcards, the worksheets, and the composition, could also be used for whole-group instruction.
Please note, the centers included in this set are different than those in my Music Centers Set {4th Grade Bundle}.
