Description

RECONSTRUCTION ROCK

This progressive Rock n Roll song tells the story of the Reconstruction period of U.S. History following the Civil War. From the critically acclaimed Professor Presley History Rocks album, this song brings the listener on a four minute musical journey through Reconstruction while touching on some of the major topics from this crucial moment in American History. Topics from the lyrics include the assassination of Lincoln by Booth, the Freedmen's Bureau, Federal Troops in the South, military districts, Radical Republicans v. Johnson and the impeachment trial, Election of U.S. Grant, 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, the KKK, Scalawags and Carpetbaggers, Segregationists and the Grandfather Clause, ending with the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. Martin Luther King.

This song is a great tool for History Teachers to first introduce, and later review this all important time in history following the Civil War. The Storyboard lesson found on my site works great with this song and really gets the students creative juices flowing! Teachers can also use the Fill in the Blank worksheet that goes with this song (also found on TPT) and students will focus on the key terms as they listen carefully to the song and fill in all of the blanks.

This song features the vocals of Dylan Martinez (from the Amazing San Diego band STATIC HALO) and was recorded at Earthling Studios in San Diego. MAKE SURE THAT YOU download the lyrics with the preview link above.
