Recipe Sketchnotes & Final Project Cookbook

What are sketchnotes?

A visual representation of notes(or recipes) using illustrations, text, color and symbols. 

Why sketchnote recipes? 

Sketchnoting recipes will help students to better understand & process all the ingredients/steps included in lab recipes prior to cooking. 

How will sketchnotes be used in class?

After completing lab plans, students will create a sketchnote over the recipe.

This product includes 3 items:

1) Student information sheet about sketchnotes to be reviewed prior to starting(includes pictures of example sketchnotes)

2) Lesson/scoring guide for sketchnote cookbook final project

3) Simple rubric for the teacher to score sketchnotes with

Teacher tips: There are many great youtube videos about sketchnotes- I would highly recommend spending a class period going over the student info sheet and watching a few videos, especially if sketchnoting is a new topic for students.

I usually have half my class in the lab one day and the other half in the lab the next day- sketchnotes make a perfect lesson for students at their desk to work on quietly on the day they aren't in the lab.

Students could also create electronic sketchnotes using Canva, Google Draw, Google Slides, etc.
