Description
Looking for some valuable Science and Social Studies activities that are also valuable learning activities, and provide seasonal fun for the students?
Why use Science and Social Studies Activities for December? Brain research tells us that learners are drawn into topics that are close to their hearts. Timely activities tend to engage learners.
How it works: Here's a chance to squeeze in some fun Social Studies and Science lessons close to the holidays! These are low-prep, high-engagement activities. Most of them are ready-to-go activities (The science experiments take a little prep and materials for Christmas smells and the hot chocolate experiment), but are all ready to go!
What’s included: There are seven activities included in this resource.
Social Studies activities:
- Mapping the North Pole
- Geography of the North Pole (non-fiction text and questions)
- Elf Laws
Science activities:
- Classifying animals
- Observing by sense of smell
- Experiment - Does hot chocolate stay hotter with or without marshmallows
- The Aurora Borealis (non-fiction text and questions)
These are designed for my own second graders who need something special to hold their attention before the holiday break! I hope it helps your little ones, too!
