Description

Make your Mother's Day activities "pop!" this year with these contemporary, fun, ready-to-color greeting cards. These cards are a low prep Mother's Day activity for teachers and a lot of fun for children as they choose their own favorite design to use.

I have designed and created 12 Pop Art card templates for use in this Mother's Day resource. These cards are inspired by famous Pop artists such as:

  • Andy Warhol
  • Roy Lichtenstein
  • Wayne Thiebaud
  • Robert Indiana
  • Romero Britto
  • Keith Haring

You will need:

  • Pop Art handout (included)
  • Mother's Day Pop Art cards (included)
  • Mother's Day Pop Art card color examples (included)
  • Copy paper (white or color)
  • Card stock (optional)
  • Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
  • Pencil, glue, and scissors
  • Construction paper in a variety of colors

I also have a set of these ready-to-color Pop Art cards for Father's Day!

There are several options for using these Mother's Day cards, and I have tried to include as many designs as possible to accommodate as many age groups as possible. The hardest part of this lesson for the kids will be deciding what design to use!

Option #1: One way you can use the Mother's Day cards is to print, copy and give them to the kids exactly as they are. The students will color the design and write their note to mom (or mum) on the inside. If you have it, this option would be best used with card stock, but copy paper can also work.

Option #2: The second option would be to have the kids cut out the front colored design and glue it to a piece of construction paper. They could use the image as the finished design or use it as part of a new design. This option lends itself to a lot of creativity!

Option #3: The third option (for older kids) would be to use the designs as a practice and then actually draw a design themselves on thicker (construction) paper and color their own drawing. I could see middle school kids making beautiful watercolor paintings for their cards. It would be neat to see if kids could create their own Pop Art designs after playing with these images as their inspiration.

I hope these cards make your life as the teacher easier, and I hope they bring very large smiles to the kids and their mothers this Mother's Day!
