Description

Teaching your unit covering the periodic table doesn’t have to be overwhelming or boring. My students have gained proficiency reading and understanding the periodic table by completing this fully digital mystery activity and I bet yours will too! This activity covers elements 1-48 on the periodic table of elements. Your students can answer directly on the activity via their devices by using Google Classroom and will be reinforcing their learning as they use knowledge of the periodic table to complete the missing portions of the periodic table entries. I’ve found that my students really benefit from this activity, especially around test time. This lesson can be used as classwork, test review, or as homework. I’ve also found this lesson works well for subs.

WHAT YOU GET

  • A fully digital 48 question periodic table worksheet. Perfect for use with your Google Classroom.
  • Questions covering elements 1-48 on the periodic table.
  • Full teacher keys.
  • A printable version of the periodic table used to develop the worksheets.
  • You can also print the activity sheets, so this can be used as a traditional worksheet if desired.

HOW I’VE USED THE LESSON IN MY CLASSROOM

I use this activity as a key component of my atoms and periodic table unit. It’s a perfect way to incorporate a fun and active lesson into your classroom! I’ve found this lesson to be a great introduction to elements and the periodic table, especially if you have time to let your students research individual elements, or as a review at the end of the unit. Approximately two class periods in length (as a point of reference, I teach a 50-minute class).

Created by Mister Science FOR MY FELLOW TEXANS I use this lesson to support Texas TEKS 6.5A
