What educators are saying
Description
This reading comprehension activity is aimed at 8-13 year-olds, and focuses on the Super Bowl in February 2024. This was the 58th Super Bowl, and was contested by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. It was the Chiefs who came out as victors, cheered on by Taylor Swift!
Your students can find this information in the text, and learn much more besides about this wonderful sporting event.
They will develop reading comprehension skills through a range of retrieval and inference questions, using skills to skim and scan the text. There are also questions on word meaning, and students will also summarise the text.
As with all of my products, I have packed as much information as I can onto the page, saving printing costs, making life easier for you as a teacher, and collectively doing our bit for the environment. This also has the added bonus of making my engaging reading comprehensions challenging for students.
Please look at the preview to see the full product before you commit to buy. What you see is what you get! (Minus the watermark!)
I have also included a black and white version of the product on pages 4-6 to avoid the costs of colour graphics printing.
Thanks for your interest!

A bit about me:
Before teaching, I was a journalist. I still work as a freelance writer, and like nothing more than writing engaging texts to challenge and inspire children and young people. I choose subjects that may not be on the curriculum but are of great importance for students to know about.
Everything I write has been comprehensively researched from a number of sources and been written by myself. No plagiarism here! This is all original material. My questions are pitched at a high level, but with a bit of patience and persistence (and some adult help if necessary) most students will have great fun as they learn, especially as the penny drops.
Your students will benefit from my reading comprehensions in guided reading, close reading, and lessons right across the curriculum. The comprehensions are closely aligned with Common Core, testing and developing skills in summarising, recall, inference, word meaning and contextual understanding.
I am aware of the impact of printed resources on our environment so try to condense my reading activities into as compact a space as possible. Hopefully this will help you save time in printing, and keep the bills down!
