Included in this set are 30 task cards on reading and writing decimals, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. These cards are all short answer questions. Cards 1-15 ask students to write a given decimal out in words (example: write 3.52 in words). Cards 1b-15b ask students to write a verbal phrase as a decimal (example: two hundred thirty one and two hundredths). I have found that the easiest way to use the cards are to cut out the set and laminate them. That way they last for awhile!
There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone, others we play a game I call “Speed Math”. When students work in pairs, I give each student a task card. Students then work together to solve each of the problems. After a certain amount of time (2-3minutes) each group passes their cards to the next group. When I have students work on task cards by themselves, I pass out the task cards, then set a timer so that every 2minutes students pass their cards. These cards can also be used to play “Speed Math”. Directions for this game are at the end of the packet!
I have included 2 versions of these cards, one with polka dot borders one with a basic black border (in case you need to save ink!). Answer sheets are the same for each set.
