    Description

This low prep reading task card bundle includes all of my literacy task card resources, for a total of 268 task cards. These are great to have on hand and reuse year, after year! Use the task cards as a reading center, for independent practice, as a SCOOT activity, for early finishers, and more!

Task cards are a fun and easy way to review state testing standards. Practice main idea, character traits, text features, cause and effect, context clues, point of view, comparing and contrasting, asking and answering questions, setting, and making inferences, with these task cards.

The following task card resources are included:

    Text Features Task Cards

These 24 text features task cards are designed to encourage students not simply to identify text features found in nonfiction text, but to explain the purpose of the text features and think about how they help readers understand text better.

    Character Traits Task Cards

These 24 task cards are a fun way for students to practice the vocabulary associated with character traits. Students must read the task card, and then use the clues to make an inference about a character's traits.

    Main Idea Task Cards

These 36 task cards are designed to get students thinking about how details support the main idea. Each task card has a paragraph on it, with one sentence that doesn’t support the main idea of the paragraph. Students write the sentence that doesn’t belong on the recording sheet.

12 of the task cards ask students to write their own sentence that supports the main idea!

    Cause and Effect Task Cards

This resource contains 24 cause and effect task cards. Students must read a short paragraph, and then determine the cause or effect of an event. A fun way to practice cause and effect skills!

    Context Clues Task Cards

These 24 task cards help you approach teaching context clues in a different way. Each task card has a paragraph with one word that does not make sense with the context. Students must use the context clues to figure out what word does not make sense, and then replace it with a better word!

    Point of View Task Cards

These 24 point of view task cards are designed to get students thinking about what a character or an author's point of view, and whether they agree or disagree with that point of view.

Comparing and Contrasting Nonfiction Task Cards

Help students compare and contrast using these 24 nonfiction task cards. Students practice comparing and contrasting key details within text, t-charts, tables, timelines, graphs, and pictures.

Asking Questions About Nonfiction Task Cards

These 24 task cards can be used over and over again with ANY nonfiction text you have read. The task cards offer sentence starters, prompts, and different ideas to help students ask a variety of questions about the text they have read. Then, students have to answer the questions.

Asking Questions about Fiction Task Cards

These 24 task cards can be used over and over again with ANY fiction text you have read. The task cards offer sentence starters, prompts, and different ideas to help students ask a variety of questions about the text they have read. Then, students have to answer the questions.

Making Inferences about Emotion Task Cards

Help your students improve their inferencing skills! Often, students encounter text where they must make an inference about a character's emotions. These 20 task cards allows for scaffolded practice with inferences.

Making Inferences about Setting Task Cards

This resource contains 20 task cards that require students to use clues to make an inference about the setting of a short passage. The student answer sheet requires students to explain how they made the inference and figured out the setting. An answer key is also included.

All of these resources also include an answer sheet, as well as an answer key or rubric.
