Huge! This Reading monthly activities supplement resource is uniquely designed for September! It’s great for a month filled with ELA and reading resources. I used what the kids loved and simplified it.
Sept-May Reading monthly activities resources will be uploaded each month by the end of the previous month.
Everything that you need is provided for a low prep, copy, and go set up! It’s one less thing to worry about doing!
Included is something for every week:
Reading: Skill: Comprehension
Topics are Labor Day, The Bully, Trouble Playing a Game, and Nervous About Third Grade/Fourth Grade (a favorite).
- Four High-interest reading passages with follow-up comprehension questions and written responses.
- Plus a reading response journal as you would like to use it.
Poetry: Skill: Understanding poetry
- Five fun poems about seasonal events.
ELA: Skill: sentences and fragments
Easy tasks for center work with a partner or small group, intervention, or independent work.
- Task cards & game ideas
- Sorting cut & paste game
Writing: Skill: Response writing & staying on topic
- Dream Career prompt is a text-based passage introduced through Labor Day
- Journal entries
- Reflective journal
All answer keys plus an easy writing rubric is provided.
Easy set up:
I set my binder up by the month. I copy it ahead and use it for the month as a supplement (early finishers, sub work, small group) resource.
I have also used subject (center) folders for the students.
This resource was designed with a focus on both reading and writing and is meant to be a supplement for your monthly curriculum, filling in gaps or used as substitute work when needed. All passages and activities can be used in a variety of settings: independent work, group time work for other students, center time, partner work, peer tutoring, RTI, homework, or wherever it is needed.
