    Prompt Response Rubric

    Overview: A rubric to grade students' written reading responses when they respond to a prompt of any text (fiction or nonfiction). Rubric targets understanding of text, support, deep thinking, addressing the prompt, length, grammar, and spelling. There is also space to write individual comments. Rubric is out of 30 points.

    Grades: 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade

    Compare/Contrast Reading Response Rubric

    Overview: A rubric to grade students' reading responses when they compare and contrast themes, compare and contrast events/characters/settings in a text, compare and contrast multiple accounts of the same event, compare and contrast stories in the same genre, and compare and contrast stories in different genres. Rubric targets use of specific examples, relevance, sequence, length, grammar, and spelling. There is also space for individual comments. Rubric is out of 30 points.

    Grades: 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade

    Common Core: ELA RL.4.9, RI.4.6, RL.5.3, RL.5.9, RI.5.6, RL.6.9, RL.7.9

    Fiction Summary Reading Response Rubric

    Overview: A rubric to grade students' reading responses when they

    summarize a fictional text. Parts of a plot mountain are represented,

    including introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion. Rubric is out of 20 points.

    Grades: 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade
