    • Root word expansion
    • Combining easy-to-read words into longer, compound words

By using these strategies, you can help build confidence, fluency, and vocabulary in your students. Elevate their reading skills with these effective resources.

I received the best phonics training available in the UK. Combined with decades of teaching reading to struggling readers, you can now access that golden combination through my resources. Don’t make older low-level readers feel worse by using intervention material for five-year-olds. All of my resources are written for older students.

    SUFFIXES -s -ing -ed

Older students struggling with reading will benefit enormously from learning to add suffixes -s -ing and -ed, inflected endings, to decodable root words. Simple and straightforward for reading interventions, small groups and one-to-one teaching or tutoring, see their confidence and fluency develop quickly with these activities. Perfect for English language learners and dyslexic students, special needs and those reading below grade level. The words used in this resource do not need any double letters before adding the suffix! They will soon be adding a LOT of extra words to their vocabulary.
