What educators are saying

I loved that this product was created for year round learning. I modify the activities to focus more on listening comprehension and for practicing speech at the reading level. Very versatile!
Perfect for center use! I am always looking for resources that volunteers can do in the classroom. Thanks!

    Description

Using reading passages and comprehension questions are a great way to have your students practice skills they have learned. Theses reading passages and questions have your students read a short passage, retell and illustrate, mark the text, and the higher level readers will answer comprehension questions. This bundle includes reading passages and comprehension questions for each month August/September-May. There are 5 nonfiction and 5 fiction reading passage for each month except May. May has 3 of each. The texts included are about various topics relating to that particular month. There are 86 passages in all.

These reading passages require your students to:

    • retell

    • illustrate

    • highlight sight words

    • circle words they struggle with

The higher levels will additionally have to:

    • answer comprehension questions

    • underline the main idea

    • box things such as: antonyms, synonyms, details, etc.

Included in this product are two differentiated versions. This is to be completed with a partner. One person is a reader and the other is a listener. The reader reads the passage and completes the tasks listed. The listener checks as they read that they are correctly completing the skill. Then, the two jobs switch and they read a new passage. The reader becomes the listener and the listener becomes the reader.

    Level One

Students will read a short passage, illustrate and retell the events, and mark the text (highlight sight words and circle words they struggled with).

    Level Two

Students will read a short passage, illustrate it while retelling the events to a partner, answer comprehension questions, and mark the text (underline the main idea, apply a reading skill, highlight sight words, and circle words they struggled with).
