Description

Reading Mastery 1 Wall Sized Letter/Sound Cards

Phonics cards to supplement the Reading Mastery Program by McGraw/Hill.

This is a large sized set of the letter/sound cards. Each letter or group of letters is on a single piece of 8.5 x 11 paper, with a thin, colorful border that should have enough colors to match any classroom décor.

I've also included some extra diphthong, r-controlled vowels, and double vowel cards, including ai, ar, au, aw, ay, ck, ea, ee, ew, ie ir, oa, oe, oi, or, ou, ow, oy, ue, ui, and ur.
Some of these are used in the RM program, some are not. I tried and tried to find where the ones used in the RM program began, but couldn't find any definitive place. I decided to leave these without numbers, and you can grab them when you need them. I included some that aren't used in the RM program because I'm planning to make some RM based games using these letters.

While I made these with thought to put them up on the wall, you could also punch some holes in them, put in some book rings (or use a book binder) and use it during group time. I've personally never had a problem introducing sounds before they showed up in the book, but that's me. :) If you don't want to do that, you could start with A and M, then add the others as surprises as you go along.

ALL CARDS ARE IN JPG FORMAT!

PRINTING INFO: I currently have health problems that are preventing me from teaching, so I don't have access to a printer. The preview download is the exact, full quality sample of what's included. I strongly recommend you download the preview and print it to make sure it prints well for you. I am still unable to answer any questions about printing.

I think it's a fairly common thing for teachers to observe the needs of their students and develop a variety of materials to meet those needs. This was my purpose when I developed these bookmarks. Because of the special orthography used in Reading Mastery, making supplemental materials was not an easy task. I chose a font that was somewhat similar, worked with it in a graphics program, and this was the end result.

About the program:

Reading Mastery is developed by McGraw-Hill and part of the SRA program. I have been teaching for 25 years now, and I can honestly say that I have never had a program work as well as this one. I used this program in a special education classroom, and I could not believe the difference it made. I have seen it work wonders, and would STRONGLY recommend it to anyone, teachers and parents alike. It was NOT developed specifically for special needs students, but works equally well for any child or adult of any ability.
