Reading & Listening Comprehension Monsters | Inferencing, Main Idea & More!

This download featuring mustached monsters and 80 short passages are your solution to addressing crucial reading comprehension and language that so many students struggle with. The many activities will help you explicitly teach the reading comprehension skills of main idea, making inferences, responding to text in general, summarizing, and using context clues. They are a tried and true go-to in my language therapy and my classroom push-in, and they are ideal for sending home for more practice.

Let's face it, some of our students need these skills taught directly and intensively. They also need them taught without the burden of lengthy text. That's what this product was created for. These activities can be used with a whole class, for one-on-one intervention, or small group instruction.

How do I use it?

1. Address multiple skills by playing Mustache Monster Party! The first player to get every monster (1 card of each skill) to the party wins!
2. Address 1 or more skills of your choice in isolation by using the 80 short passages along with the included sorting mats or the board game (detailed instructions included).
3. Address 1 or more skills by using the board game or ANY board game.
4. Address any or all skills by simply using the 80 passages for practice.
