All of the odd-numbered cards feature a dialogue between two people. The even-numbered cards are written in a paragraph format.

Teacher Tip

Here’s what teachers are saying:

✏️ "We have so much fun with these! They are great for practicing fluency with varying expression. The cards that feature conversation are awesome to use with pairs of students, but they also have fun using different voices for each part. We use these in small groups and also have been recording the reads in Seesaw." -Barbara R.

✏️ "These are great for practicing prosody. We use them as a sort of game where the child has to choose an emotion that's appropriate to the story on the card and then read the card using that kind of emotion. The partner (or teacher) then has to guess which emotion (using emoji cards) the student was trying to convey. The kids enjoy it." -Faye R.

✏️ "I used this as a way for parent volunteers to practice reading fluency skills with students one-on-one...just what I needed. Thank you!" -Kelly H.
