Reading Comprehension Escape Room | Seasonal and Holidays BUNDLE

Doing fun activities for the holidays doesn't have to be a waste of time! With my bundle of Reading Comprehension Escape Rooms, you can celebrate all of the major holidays in your 3rd through 5th classroom while still building reading skills!

This bundle features printable breakout escape rooms for the following seasons and holidays:

• Fall
• Thanksgiving
• Halloween
• Christmas

I know it can be a challenge to figure out meaningful things to do with your students in those days before breaks. We want to have fun and be festive, but not sacrifice that valuable time to practice the reading skills we've been working hard to teach. These reading escape rooms are my favorite activity to do with students on the last day before each break because they are fun and engaging. I have even had students ask for more time after school to try to breakout!

Each of these escape rooms features 4-5 challenges that students will complete based on reading texts that mimic the kinds of things they will see in real life -- letters, postcards, emails, fliers, and more. They will take most 3rd-5th grade students around 60 minutes to complete, depending on reading ability. Some students will need cooperative grouping or teacher scaffolding to get through the texts and challenges.

Although some challenges appear more than once in the bundle, no two escape rooms are exactly alike. They will offer opportunities for students to practice:

• sequencing
• using text evidence
• fact and opinion
• cause and effect
• making inferences
• context clues

and more!

Plus, each escape room is in a zip file that includes a PDF of the reading passages that you can share digitally with students. Don't worry about having to print all those texts with colored ink. Just share the pdf with students and print out the challenge pages!
