Teaching students to synthesize information is crucial to their reading comprehension of both nonfiction and fiction texts. These reading comprehension crafts are a fresh, hands on and unique way students can visually see the synthesizing information reading strategy broken down for them. It is an alternative to reading response that will help you to reach all learners in your classroom.
These reading crafts require little to no prep, and the only materials needed are scissors and glue.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
3 Synthesizing Information Crafts:
- Synthesizing Flower: Students can visually see their thinking “grow” as they record how their thinking changes as they read.
- Synthesizing Puzzle Brain: Students fill in lift the flap puzzle pieces that open up to record their thinking. The two options are for students to fill in 3 flaps of their thoughts from beginning to end, or 8 flaps with what they read in the text and how that changed their thinking.
- Nesting Dolls Book: Students fill in their changing thoughts as their thoughts grow from beginning to end.
