** US and Australian spelling included **

About this book:
This book contains 20 easy phonics poems to help children develop reading fluency and comprehension.

To assist differentiation in the classroom, 3 versions have been included. 1) The first includes comprehension questions. 2) The second version consists of only the poems (this version is available in black and white or color). 3) The third version is the original phonics poems version with word family review highlighting the main rhyming chunks in the poem.

Directions for use:
The reading comprehension questions in this unit are multiple choice and children select the correct answer by highlighting A or B.

The reading comprehension packet focuses on the following skills:

- using context to determine unfamiliar or multiple-meaning words
- comparing and contrasting
- predicting
- inferring
- making connections

The “poems only” versions in this unit are intended to help students develop reading fluency. They can be printed and stapled together to form booklets. The colored version can be used as a classroom book – use sheet protectors or laminate to make them last longer.
