    ***Synopsis with a pronunciation guide

**As a teacher, I understand the importance of keeping all students active participants throughout the rehearsal process. Therefore, there are no one line parts. When a role is smaller, I worked to incorporate it as much as possible throughout the play.**

    Teaching Tips:

Begin by familiarizing the class with the characters & unknown vocabulary.

To build fluency speed, have students pre-read their scripts silently several times. (To build fluency with improved expression, begin to practice out loud.)

I like to divide my class into 4 groups and give each group a play to practice. After much practice, they then perform it for the class.

This is a GREAT MAY or JUNE Activity!!

Reader’s theater can be made into a costumed, staged performance or kept simple with students sitting on chairs in front of the class. Do what works best for your schedule!

    5. Fairy Tale

Rumpelstiltskin reader's theater script and CCSS worksheets for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade! Practicing reader’s theater is a fun way to build reading fluency! When the scripts play out famous fairy tales this practice becomes interdisciplinary combining reading fluency, vocabulary, public speaking, and literature.

    • Character name tags for the students to wear while reading
