Running time: approx. 40 minutes.

The History of the Theatre - Part One! stage script is a series of linked scenes that bring the history of the theatre to life, from its inception and origins right up to William Shakespeare and his contemporaries. The play is introduced and 'hosted' by two narrators who also interact with the characters, and it's informative and funny. This stage script can help students to understand the historical timeline of theatre and also provides opportunities to explore mime, dance, tableaux and various aspects of stage craft. It's an ideal stage script for a large group of creative mixed-ability students and would make a perfect performance at the end of a semester.

This script includes fabulous full production notes, with ideas for staging, props and furniture, lighting, sound effects, any music and costumes. It also contains lots of great follow-on activities covering story, characters, theme, script layout and performance-related tasks for further work in the classroom or drama studio.

If you are giving a performance of this play to an audience, regardless of whether you charge admission or not, you must purchase the appropriate Performance Rights License, available in this store.
