What educators are saying

These were simple and engaging texts. This was perfect to use with students who have reading difficulties. Thank you

Description

These Read Like a Detective passages were developed because I needed a way to teach each of these standards with comprehension questions. My district has modeled their assessments for primary students after the PARCC frameworks so my students need a lot of practice with these types of evidence based multiple-choice questions.
As an ELA curriculum writer for my district, I have scoured the internet for resources to teach the Reading Literature and Reading Informational text standards. There is almost nothing for primary students-especially RI.9!

These 10 texts will provide passages for teachers to use when teaching these standards as well as examples of questions to ask during readings that will allow students to justify with evidence from the text. Passages in this pack also focus on determining the meaning of unknown words using context clues (RI.4).

Here is what is included in the bundle:

10 paired passages that focus on RI.9 & RI.4
Students will find similarities and differences between two texts on the same topic.

Gorillas
All About Gorillas
Otters in the Water
Sea Otters
Giant Giraffes
Just Giraffes
Martin Luther King Jr.
Meet MLK
Venus Flytraps
Tempting Traps
