This unit is based on the animated series and published graphic novel set, Raven Tales, created by Chris Kientz, published by Rubicon. The stories are not included in this unit but can be purchased at Scholastic.ca
These tales are perfect for integrating reading strategies and First Nations literature with a whole class using one read aloud book or in smaller literacy groups.
Reading strategies used in this unit to explore the tales are: Summarizing, Visualization, Connection, Cause and Effect, Question, Prediction and Infer.
Included is a 22-page student response booklet, answer key, and assessment rubric.
This unit can be printed out in its entirety as a student response booklet or individually to support a particular reading strategy or book.
