Have you been told that you must "do" RTI? Yet have been given no direction, no training, no intervention resources or no progress monitoring tools? Then this is the packet for you. This packet is not the interventions...I do however, have an RTI Reading Interventions Menu (free) HERE. This product will help you progress monitor those interventions. In RTI, it's simply not enough to provide interventions to struggling readers, we must have proof, with data points, to prove that the interventions are working (or in some cases, not working). No longer can teachers recommend a student for testing based on hunches, sixth senses and 35 years of classroom experience. This product helps a teacher accomplish the task of collecting the progress monitoring data points for interventions in the foundational literacy area of Alphabet Knowledge in the five skill areas of Alphabet Recognition, Alphabet Sequencing, Letter Name Writing, Letter-Sound Correspondence and First Letter Fluency...all alphabet skills listed in the Foundational Literacy strand of the Common Core for grades K and 1. This packet is also ideal for interventionists, tutors or home school teachers of Kindergarten and first graders, and any teacher, interventionist, speech pathologist, special education teacher, tutor or home school that works with students struggling with alphabet letters and sounds.

In addition to the 125 progress monitoring probes (also known as 1-minute CBM assessments) I have written a 10 page comprehensive guide to understanding the role, purpose and rationale of progress monitoring as an essential and necessary component of the RTI process from my experiences of implementing RTI for the past seven years, in a very easy to read and understand format.

Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
